The thorough cleaning, polishing, and examination of your teeth is essential to maintaining your oral health. We also take the time to help our patients develop proper oral hygiene habits at home, specially customed to each individual patient’s needs. We will evaluate your hygiene techniques and make adjustments to your routine where needed. The doctor and hygienist will also make suggestions for preventative measures such as dental sealants or nightguards to protect against bruxism & TMJ.
Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material is used to fill a cavity. Once the decay is removed, it is placed in the tooth and hardened with a special light. The hardening or “curing” of the resin ultimately “bonds” the material to the tooth to restore a tooth and improve a person’s smile.
Take-home whitening treatment is a revolutionary process that delivers optimal whitening using customized trays made special for each individual patient. Within a few days you will notice whiter teeth using the convenient take- home whitening. You apply the whitening gel to your teeth using your custom whitening trays. The gentle oxygenating action of peroxide gel safely removes stains from your teeth. In addition to the whitening effects, the peroxide used in our dental office raises your mouth’s pH creating an unfavorable environment for the organisms in your mouth that cause tooth decay, and added bonus to say the least!
A dental crown is used to cover and restore a tooth that is decayed, broken, or otherwise damaged and is in need of stabilization. Dental crowns can be constructed using a variety of materials depending on the need. Porcelain crowns have opalescence very similar to your natural teeth.
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or surgically placed implants.
Root Canal Therapy
Root Canal Therapy or Endodontic Therapy is a sequence of procedures intended to treat the pulp, or nerve chamber inside a tooth, which results in the elimination of infection and protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial infection. This set of procedures is commonly referred to as a “root canal.” Root canals and their associated pulp chamber are the physical spaces within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities.
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable.
Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth. Two types of dentures are available – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when only some natural teeth are missing.
Dental implants mix both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Dental implants replace one or more missing teeth or secure a dental bridge or denture with stability similar to the root of a natural tooth.
Reversible TMJ Therapy
Conservative TMD therapy does not change the patient permanently in any way. It should always be the first approach to TMJ pain unless there is an obvious surgical situation such as a fractured jaw. Conservative therapy is also called Phase 1 therapy and in the majority of TMD cases, no additional treatment is needed.
Conservative therapy utilizes the following approaches:
• Bite splint
• Medication for pain control and muscle relaxation
• Physical therapy
• Injections for relief of pain (anesthetic or steroid)
• Behavioral modification (stress relief, habit avoidance, improved sleep and
